Happy 2022 day-068! Today’s review…

Do you boomerang?

We are starting with some basics, to help functional #Workday fans understand how simple yet powerful Boomerangs can be.

This month’s Boomerang theme continues with more focus on Reports-as-a-Service (RaaS), starting with this quick review, followed with an introduction to the XML “Namespace” on the Advanced tab:

  1. The “Column Heading Override XML Alias” for those who might actually view the XML coming out of the RaaS report.
  2. The default value has underscores automatically placed where blank spaces appear in the field name. So, “A B” would become “A_B” and “First Name” would become “First_Name”. Note also this field generated an Alert because the total length of the field name “Legal_Name_-_First_Name” is longer than 16 characters.
  3. It appears that Workday doesn’t warn you when two field names match, such as “Hire_Date”… learn why during the Sharing Café from 8-9am PST today.
  4. a and 4b) There are two BOs in this example.
  5. Notice an icon on the Worker BO, unlike the first two rows.
  6. Above items review some of the past couple of days of #happy2022workday posts. We now head over to the Advanced tab so we can turn it into a RaaS report:
  7. Click the box to “Enable As Web Service”. This will set a default for the important field “Namespace” using the report name. Although this Namespace value itself isn’t really important (unless you are combining reports in an integration), it is important to copy-paste it correctly into your code.

More on all this during today’s 2022-03-09 sharing in the Sharing Café (8-9am PST) for members of the Customer Sharing Movement!
