Happy 2022 day-038! Today’s update…

We now transition from Calculated Fields (CFs) to Reporting. In my initial 2022 #CFs4all post, the large water container represented how much we collectively know and could share. So you don’t have to drink alone, we now have the Learning Workday CFs and BOM group on LI, here.
Next up is reporting. This picture shows far in the background a huge water container compared to CFs. There is so much to learn with reporting, it’s not easy to know where to begin.

Luckily, I was a #Workday employee when the Simple Report Type was created, so I know why it exists and my personal challenge is to leverage Simple reports for what they’re good for. Simple reports are quite limited compared to Advanced report (which has additional tabs for Prompts, Output, Share, and Advanced.) But, we can start Simple and quickly move to Advanced when we are ready for Related Business Objects (RBOs.)

P.S. My challenge behind the picture was to list all workers whose legal first name does not match their preferred first name, in order of most recent hires on top. Simple reports do have Sort and Filter tabs, but cannot be used for this challenge. This and other fun reporting topics for those who hang out with us in the Sharing Café tomorrow.
