Happy 2022 day-025! Today’s update, CRI and SRI calc field functions…
——
CRI = Count Related Instances
SRI = Sun Related Instances
——
I like to use the word “list” for the one-to-many (1:M) “relationship” fields (relationship is the #Workday word for if an RBO field is a 1:1 or a 1:M). It’s easiest for me to teach the things you can do with a “list” compared to the “related business objects in a one to many relationship”:
-extract one from the list
-extract many from the list
-count how many are in the list
-sum values in a [#] or [$] field in the items in the list

During tomorrow’s Weekly Wednesday at the Sharing Café we will discuss how you can calculate the average of a value in a list of business objects. For example, the average age of workers in a supervisory org, or the average cost of meals in an expense report.

Calculating the average is a good use case for CRI and SRI calc fields.

As for today’s picture, can you spot the CRI and SRI error?
Recall that the field type shown on the top of the pillar is (supposed to be) the return type of the calc field function.

EXTRA: In case this helps with yesterday’s “Nerd vs Geek” Venn diagram challenge, today’s example is from Wikipedia

CHALLENGE: Can you see what is common between Latin and Cyrillic alphabets but not Greek?
ANSWER: Unlike yesterday’s challenge, feel free to comment if you see it 🙂

TOMORROW: Join us in the Sharing Café. Just drop in… members of the Customer Sharing Movement need not register, and know where to find the link (or send us a message for help.)
